A graduate of Lauralton Hall, Dr. Cavar returned in 2002 to teach and was named chair of the science department in 2015. She is a certified UCONN ECE instructor as well as member of the National Science Teachers Association and the American Society of Cell Biologists. Dr. Cavar’s thesis investigated cell communication in dividing cells. Her post-doctoral work in the Center of Vascular Biology at the University of Connecticut Health Center investigated blood vessel growth. She and her husband enjoy science, all things nerdy, and rescuing dogs.
