Lauralton’s Summer College Essay Writing Workshop enables rising seniors to carefully craft their 650-word common application essay during a structured, reflective week-long seminar before the responsibilities of senior year unfold.

This five-day session allows Lauralton girls to reflect on personal strengths that they wish to highlight in this very important piece to the college admissions process. The essay is an opportunity to showcase the student’s attributes and characteristics, thoughts and feelings, reflections and musings as they traverse the college process.

Dedicated instructors from Lauralton’s English Department guide each student through the complete writing process from start to finish: brainstorming topics, composing a draft, editing grammatical and mechanical errors, revising content to highlight key themes, and finally – producing a meaningful, significant, contemplative college essay.

In the workshop students will examine exemplar essays and analyze what makes them stand out. They will learn creative writing techniques and engage in critical practice to create and embrace their individual unique story.  The sessions allow students to work at their own pace and they offer flexible times to include a morning or an evening session to best fit busy schedules.

Lauralton’s summer College Essay Writing Workshop is an outstanding signature program; one that will build confident seniors who will return to school in the fall having completed their personal narrative and then be able to focus on senior year and the rest of the exciting college process in College Seminar.
