Choral & Instrumental Music

The Lauralton Hall Music Department offers students the opportunity to develop and enhance their musical, leadership, and collaborative skills through a wide variety of instrumental and choral ensembles.

Course Descriptions

Music students are engaged and challenged through entertaining orchestral and choral literature from traditional, contemporary, and world music genres. Our ensembles perform at Lauralton's annual Christmas and spring concerts as well during other School events.

Lauralton musicians and singers also perform locally and have travelled for choral ensemble performances at:

  • Basilica di Sant' Andrea della Valle; Rome, Italy
  • The Vatican for the New Year's Day Papal Mass
  • Disney World's Epcot for the Candlelight Processional
  • Avery Fisher Hall
  • 400th Anniversary of the Founding of Jamestown

Lauralton Hall returned to Italy April 6-14, 2023, making stops in Venice, Florence, and Rome. Led by Fine Arts Department Chair Margy Sargent, Advanced Vocal Ensemble, and Concert Choir students had the opportunity to perform for Italian audiences in various churches, piazzas, theaters, concert halls, and archaeological ruins.

Milford United Percussion is a competitive percussion ensemble located at Lauralton Hall under the direction of Mr. Mark Allen. It is comprised of current and former students from many Milford high schools and surrounding towns, and has been named MAC Festival Class A Champions in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2023 and consistently receiving Platinum ratings at the annual Great East Music Festival. The show this year included music from The Greatest Showman.
