8:30 AM to noon at Lauralton Hall
Lauralton Hall hosts the Science Olympics for Girls each spring and fall. Designed for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls interested in science (and some fun!), teams of up to four compete in events related to physics, chemistry, earth science, and biology.
See FAQs below. For any other questions, please email Science Department Chair Dr. Sue Cavar '88 at email@example.com.
Q. Can my daughter be on the same team as her friend(s)?
A. Yes, you can make your own teams. Each girl needs to register individually, and there is a space on the form to name the other girls on the team.Q. Is my child required to register with a team?
A. No, we will gladly place your child on a team that isn't full!
Q. May I stay and watch?
A. We encourage you join us at 11:30 a.m. for refreshments and the Science Demonstrations and Awards Ceremony. However, based on fire code, you cannot attend the actual classroom activities as we are at capacity (with up to 14 teams competing in each event at one time).
Q. Should my daughter bring lunch?
A. We will provide snacks and water. The event ends at noon so we will not be providing lunch.
Q. Do all of the girls on the team need to be the same age?
A. No, we have a separate category for teams with a mixture of ages.
Q. Is there a dress code?
A. Dress code is casual. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably as they are doing hands-on activities in the laboratories.
