Welcome from the Head of School

Leading our school community on this beautiful historic campus is always a privilege! I hope that you are enjoying reading the latest issue of Hallmarks Squared . In it, you can see the many ways that our students are applying their God-given talents and abilities; for a glimpse at our entire student body’s recent accomplishments please click here.

As I look back at my first five years serving as President & Head of School at Lauralton, I am incredibly proud of the warm and welcoming community that we enjoy.  Lauralton continues to be accredited by New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC) and during the past year has completed its Mission Accountability process with the Mercy Education. Lauralton has been commended by the United States Senate for our "extraordinary and longstanding tradition of academic excellence preparing women leaders in the Mercy tradition." Together with the Board of Trustees, the Leadership Team, and the Academic Team, we have focused on the student experience, including launching new signature programs over the past five years. The academic curriculum is even stronger, having added additional coursework on campus including AP Statistics, AP Calculus BC, AP Psychology, Discrete Math, Popular Music and Diversity, Financial Intelligence, and First-Year Experience. The co-curricular program is enriched by service trips, including our concert tour to Italy (April 2023). Please visit our website for updated content on our athletics and art offerings and follow us on social media. It is a pleasure to share our School's celebrations!

We have retained and attracted top educators with increased salaries and improved benefits such as a 403(b) plan with an increased match.  While we may be weary of seeing construction crews and cranes on campus, we can now enjoy our newly refurbished science labs, the rejuvenated Chapel, the new roof on Mercy Hall, the nearly 200 new windows along the front façade, the updated air conditioning in the Athletic Center, the retrofitted Otis elevator, and the fresh pavement on campus. All of this has been done while eliminating almost all fees and with the most modest tuition increases in LH’s 118-year history! In fact, the School has its lowest debt, highest reserves, a larger endowment, and best financial profile in decades. Thank you!

If you know of a young woman who would benefit from Lauralton's mission, please contact the Admissions Office.  Many questions can be answered in the  “back to school” packet or in the updated Lauralton At A Glance.

In Mercy,

Elizabeth A. Miller
