Lauralton Welcomes Varsity Basketball Coach Laura Discenza

Lauralton Hall has announced that Laura Discenza '08 will begin serving as varsity basketball head coach. Coach Discenza returns to her alma mater after building the girls basketball program at Stratford High School since 2012. She play varsity basketball at Stonehill College where her team was selected for the NCAA tournament her freshman and sophomore years, and she held the highest GPA on the team her senior year. Her basketball career while at Lauralton included playing varsity for three years. She also served as captain while on freshman, JV, and varsity. She was recognized for her outstanding academics and character as the recipient of Lauralton's most prestigious student award, the Catherine McAuley Award.

Coach Discenza, who holds a master's degree in education, will continue to serve as head coach for LH volleyball. "I can't wait to get going with the basketball team," said Coach Discenza. "It's going to be great to be back for two seasons (fall volleyball and winter basketball) next year!"
