Lauralton Hall is proud to celebrate Julianna Ruane ’28, who has been recognized with a National Community Service Impact Award through the eighth Annual Community Service Awards, presented by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and InnerView.

Julianna earned this distinction for her dedication to community service and for serving as an inspiration to others through her commitment to making a difference. Her recognition places her among student changemakers nationwide who are addressing local and global challenges through service and leadership.

The Community Service Impact Awards program connects student volunteer efforts to meaningful real-world outcomes and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals. This year, participating students across the country collectively contributed more than 2.3 million hours of service—representing an estimated $78 million in community impact.

Julianna was recognized with a Merit Award, honoring students who completed at least 40 hours of service during the school year. She was also acknowledged among Connecticut youth volunteers whose work reflects compassion, responsibility, and dedication to strengthening their communities.

According to the United Nations Association of the USA, students like Julianna are helping create positive change while demonstrating that meaningful action can begin at any age.

“We know that youth care deeply about their local communities and the world around them, and when they translate that care into action everyone benefits,” said Kate Scheuritzel, Director of Programs at Serve Connecticut. “Congratulations to this year’s Community Impact Award recipients and thank you for your service.”

The award also highlights the personal growth and leadership skills developed through service. InnerView CEO Kristine Sturgeon noted that this recognition reflects “the time, care, and commitment these students are putting into causes that matter to them.”
