Exuberant Crowd Kicks-off the ‘Season’ at Lauralton Hall’s Irish Night

It was a high spirited crowd that came out to celebrate Lauralton Hall’s Irish Night on Saturday, March 5. The night began with the sounds of thundering bagpipes and drums as the Fairfield Gaelic Pipe Band marched in, signifying the official start of this fun event.

Back by popular demand, the Highland Rovers Band began their set with traditional Irish tunes and kept revelers on the dance floor as they performed in the contemporary sound for which they have become known. Spectators were wowed by step dancers from the Brennan-Lucey Academy of Irish Dance who performed Irish céilis, jigs and reels. The highlight of the Irish Step Dancing was Lauralton’s very own Caroline Gouley ’25 who performed a spirited solo reel in her beautiful competition dress The Fairfield Gaelic Pipe Band returned for another set, beginning with an incredible drum solo followed by the entire pipe band joining in for the encore.

A table decorations contest enhanced the festivities and the competition was fierce!  Honorable Mention went to “Shore Lucky” a creative Celtic beach theme centerpiece by LH faculty, 3rd Place was the Essig P’20, P’22 party’s “Bear in a Basket”; 2nd place to Lisa Kelly Boynton ’85, P’20 and Debra Kelly Woodward ’90, P’25 for their bar on wheels and 1st place was awarded to the “Delta Nus”: Brenna Donahue ’14 & friends for their intricate fresh flower rainbow with floral pots of gold.  Rounding out the evening were homemade desserts, contributed by members of the Irish Night team, faculty and LH parents, as well as a “Luck of the Irish” raffle.

A special thank you to our sponsors, raffle donors and volunteers. Plans are underway for Irish Night 2023. For details about next year’s event, contact IrishNight@lauraltonhall.org.
