The Center for Guidance and College Planning at Lauralton Hall initiated a Career Speaker Series that started this year.
Every few months, a female professional will be invited in to talk to students about her profession during Common Time. They will share their careers, the college they attended, the major they chose, the path they took, and their day-to-day experiences. Special Agent Jennifer Wagner kicked off this special program on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Over 30 junior and seniors signed up and attended her presentation.
Special Agent Wagner shared the details of a case she previously worked on and has since closed, spoke about her travels since becoming an FBI agent and the path that led her to where she is today. Students heard that the FBI looks for recruits who major in different fields – not just Criminal Justice. Students were able to try on Agent Wagner’s tactical vest and walked away with information about the FBI Internship Program.
We hope that this series will continue to connect students with women in their fields and provide opportunities for discussion and discovery, shadow days, and internships. Further, we are excited for the popular Career Day, run every other year, that will be held on April 15, 2024, when women from many professions will come and present sessions to all grade levels.
