A Beautiful Celebration of Cultures & Traditions

On Thursday, May 19 Lauralton’s DICE (Diversity, Inclusion, Culture, Equity) Club celebrated the cultural richness of our Lauralton and global communities with traditional games, food, apparel, music, arts, and language in a vibrant and vivid fair.

Inclement weather meant the event was held in the Claven Auditorium, but the move did not dampen the enthusiasm of the 70 or so club members at 14 tables representing the languages and cultures of countries and ethnicities in North, Central, and South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Hundreds of eager students enjoyed the colorful displays and lively activities, sampling treats, getting henna tattoos, and trying their hands at dominoes, calligraphy, and the Jamaican board game Ludi.

The DICE club is the most recent iteration of clubs that have for years nurtured, sustained, and showcased Lauralton’s diversity. DICE Co-moderators Mrs. Gavy Duran and Mrs. Lauren Korman, with the assistance of the DEI@LH workgroup, coordinated this event.
