National Honor Society sponsors “Souper Bowl”
News Flash: Donation deadline extended to February 7. Bring in your soup cans today!
While much of the country is choosing their team for the Super Bowl and dreaming of an afternoon laden with chicken wings and other delicious snacks, the young ladies of Lauralton Hall’s National Honor Society are thinking about making a “souper” difference in local communities.
The members of the National Honor Society are spearheading their own “Souper Bowl,” asking students, faculty and staff members to donate cans of soup. Each NHS member will be responsible for donating four cans of soup in an effort to reach the goal of 1,000 total cans of soup to be donated by the entire school. Classic tomato, New England clam chowder, chicken noodle, and beef and vegetable soup will be collected throughout the week of January 29, just prior to the Super Bowl on February 3.
Last year the results were “souper!” More than 650 cans of soup were donated to the “Food for the People” Pantry in Bridgeport and the entire school community stepped up to the challenge.
This year’s challenge is even greater. NHS would like to help stock food pantries in our hometown of Milford, the food pantry in Bridgeport, and the Connecticut Food Bank in Fairfield, so the more soup we collect, the more we will have to share.
Please be sure to bring in your soup donation to help meet the goal of 1,000 cans of soup!
