Prom memories to last a lifetime

Posted on May 07, 2012

Lauralton Hall’s 2012 Junior/Senior Prom, held on April 27, at Villa Bianca in Seymour, was a huge success!  Not a gown was repeated, and each student expressed herself beautifully in flowing fabrics of vibrant colors. The Lauralton ladies were certainly a sight to behold as they emerged from limousines and party busses ready to have fun and make lasting memories. Sister Dorothy Synkewecz and Sister Janice May arrived in style in a limo provided by the Inn at Villa Bianca. The venue offered all 395 juniors and seniors and their dates a beautiful atmosphere with cascading staircases, gorgeous chandeliers, and twinkling starry night ceilings. Tropical flowers and fire bowls illuminated from within graced navy table cloths, while gold accents in the chairs and napkins gave just the right amount of flare. Up-lights on the walls glowed pink and orange and red-orange tulle draped a canopy.

He talked about looking at the norms into which the predominantly white culture wants people of color to fit. In addition, the conference included student and adult workshops that focused on strategies to open in-school discussions of racial inequalities and attitudes.

Students perform community service on a global scale

At the heart of Lauralton Hall’s full name is the word mercy: “Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall,” so it comes as no surprise that the school’s students are expected to help others through community service. What may be a surprise is the global scope of this service.
