Open on school days from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Helen Meloy Schwalje Library Media Center houses 16,000 books, numerous periodicals, and more than thirty computers for student use.
Networked computers provide members of the Lauralton Hall community—students, faculty, staff, and administrators—access to the Internet, Microsoft Professional Office Suite and online resources for research.
Lauralton Hall students have access to these subscription based resources via the Media Center student group page.
Destiny Library Manager by Follett
Destiny Library Manager is a research tool that helps students make more effective use of quality information. Destiny allows students to access the library book catalog from home as well as from school. Using its easy, web-based interface, students can access information in a single, seamless environment. This database makes searching even easier and provides the ability to link all print and most non-print resources onto a single page.
ABC-CLIO
ABC-CLIO includes three databases: American Government, American History, and World History: The Modern Era. This is a one-stop resource for standards-based reference, enriched by balanced political commentary, daily news, feature stories and quality lessons.
Connecticut Digital Library (iCONN and ReQuest)
iCONN is part of the Connecticut Education Network and provides the ability to search thousands of popular and scholarly articles, from 1980 to the present including Spanish-language articles, newspapers, business information on over 450,000 companies, health and wellness information and much more. With ReQuest, Connecticut's Statewide Library Catalog, students can search three million titles located in 300 libraries throughout the state.
Thomson Gale INFOTRAC
INFOTRAC includes two databases: Student Resource Center Gold and Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. The Student Resource Center Gold has reference materials, primary source documents and magazines on literature, science, history and biography. The Opposing Viewpoints database includes information on social issues providing access to viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to websites and full-text magazine and newspaper articles.
