Mission
The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, is a Catholic college preparatory school founded in 1905 by the Sisters of Mercy. Lauralton Hall's unique mission is to foster a community atmosphere enriched by the Mercy tradition and to educate young women to pursue knowledge, recognize truth and respond to the needs of others.
Welcome to the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, a Catholic independent college preparatory high school that prepares girls to become competent, confident and compassionate women.
In keeping with the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy, students at the more than 100-year-old school are challenged with a rigorous academic program and learn to give of themselves to others, especially to those in need.
The school’s well-rounded curriculum emphasizes analytical and critical thinking; problem solving and the effective communication of ideas. Students follow a comprehensive, balanced curriculum that prepares them for the rigors of college study, with demanding honors and Advanced Placement courses offered in all academic disciplines.
Lauralton Hall believes character formation is as essential as intellectual achievement. Students are encouraged to become 21st Century Renaissance women—women who, through academic, physical and social challenges, are competent, confident and compassionate.
Lauralton Hall also has a long and proud history of athletic excellence and is known both locally and statewide for her athletic teams. “We’ve got the spirit!” summarizes what Lauralton Hall student athletes experience—the joy of competition, pride in their school, pride in their personal accomplishments and pride in the spirit to win or lose with heads held high.
As the oldest Catholic independent college-preparatory high school for girls in Connecticut, Lauralton Hall attracts more than 400 students from throughout New Haven and Fairfield counties and beyond. The school is located on a grand, historic, 30-acre campus just blocks away from downtown Milford and the Milford train station. Recent improvements include a gymnasium with fitness room built in 2001, and three new state-of-the-art science labs, along with two new art rooms that were completed in 2007.

Like the 6,200 alumnae who came before them, students arrive here each day by car, bus and train. Among them are the sisters, daughters, granddaughters, nieces and cousins of Lauralton alumnae. Alumnae themselves are part of daily life. Many stay active in the Lauralton community, serving as faculty, volunteers, staff, on the Alumnae Association and on the Board of Trustees. Their presence helps to preserve traditions and is testimony to the loyalty and affection students feel for the school.
Lauralton Hall encourages all interested young women to consider the Lauralton advantage for their high school years. Interested students are welcome to spend a day at the school to visit classes and meet faculty and students.
